The story of Silvia Ortega,
sustainable fashion brand

Silvia Ortega measuring a puppet

Ever since she was a child, Silvia had a passion for drawing and creating garments, exploring texture and versatility of trendy fabrics. Having qualified with a Masters  in Pedagogy and worked in that area for a few years, she moved to Ireland to learn English and started working in retail which reconnected her with fashion. She pursued her studies by enrolling in a course in Fashion Design in the Dublin Institute of Design. After her second child was born she realised it was time to bring her creative ideas to life. So in 2019, Silvia Ortega, a sustainable fashion brand for women was born.

We aim to create aesthetic timeless and versatile womens clothes that are suitable to wear for any occasion. From our studio in Wicklow Town, working within sustainable and slow fashion frame, we design and craft small collections on the demand in order to reduce fabric waste.

All our garments are made with natural fabrics such as silk, cotton ,cupro, wool, linen. Richness in texture shows through every collection. We love mixing different materials and using old techniques to manipulate the fabric including weaving, smocking and quilting. A bit of boldness embellishes each design through vibrant silk linings, chunky zips, big buttons, draped pieces inserted into flat patterns, sheer fabrics, flounces and crochet.

Silvia Ortega designs are available at Om Diva and Marion Cuddy Emporium in Dublin and online on this website
